Conditions of Play (Subject to Change)

The Brisbane Open is controlled by the Brisbane Open Organizing Committee, a sub-committee of Club Manly. The Brisbane Open Organizing Committee and its nominated officials have the power to enquire into and adjudicate on any disputes or interpretations as may occur concerning the Laws of the Sport of Bowls Crystal Mark 3rd Edition version 3.1, Domestic Regulations for Australia, and these Conditions of Play are to be applied.

Sectional and post-sectional play Friday 25th and Saturday 26th June 2021

1. There are 3 players in each section. Each player plays 2 games of 18 ends and marks 1 game.

2. All sectional and post-sectional games are 18 ends or 1 Hour 45 Minutes (whichever comes first). There are no dead ends; re-spot on the T.

3. The winner of each section on Friday and the next highest ranked player(s) advances to play a post-sectional, knockout game on that day.

4. The winner of each section on Saturday and the next highest ranked player(s) advances to play a post-sectional, knockout game on that day.

5. Post sectional draws are conducted as blind draws immediately upon completion of sectional play each day.

6. Winners of post-sectional games proceed to the round of 16 on Sunday.

7. The scoring system to determine winners of each section and ranking of second placed players to fill positions in the post sectional games is:-

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 for a loss,

If equal, then, highest aggregate margin,

if still equal, then, most ends won,

if still equal, by least shots conceded.

8. Friday and Saturday game times: Roll Up from 9.00am. Game 1 - 9.30am: Game 2 - 11.30am: Lunch (provided) Game 3 - 2.30pm, Post- Sectional games from 4.30pm

NOTES: The number of players proceeding from each day to the final 16 will be proportional to the number of sections playing on each of Friday and Saturday.

Saturday 26th June 2021

On completion of the Saturday post sectional round there will be a Calcutta followed by the Draw for round of 16 games to be played on the Sunday

Sunday 27th June 2021 -Finals

9. All Finals games are knockout, 18 ends, no dead ends, re-spot on the T. No time limit

10. If a finals game is tied after 18 ends, a one end shootout is played to determine the winner

11. Roll up on Sunday 27th is from 9.00 am to 9.20 am
12. Round of 16 games commence at 9.30 am (1 game to be live-streamed)

13. Quarter Final, from 12.00pm (1 game to be live-streamed)

14. Lunch break for players of the semi-finals (lunch provided for semi-finalists)

15. Semi-Finals, from 2.30 pm (Live streaming)

16. Final, from 4.30 pm (Live streaming)

Conditions of play are subject to change up to commencement of the event. Current conditions of play will be posted on the Brisbane Open 2021 website and on the notice board at Club Manly.

Bowls Australia Tier 3 ranking points are with this event. All players must be a registered Bowls Australia bowler

All players must wear BA approved bowls attire.
All players will comply with all applicable “Laws of the sport of Lawn Bowls” Crystal Mark 3rd edition.
